In this presentation we will explain these trends, how organizations are addressing and make cross references to the 2022/2023 McGriff Benefits Survey.  

Federal law prohibits discrimination in the provision of employee benefits. The Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) prohibits discrimination against a plan participant or beneficiary for either exercising benefit rights or for the purpose of interfering with the attainment of benefit rights. Additionally, the Internal Revenue Code limits discrimination in favor of highly compensated employees or key employees in the provision of certain tax-qualified benefits.

About the Speaker:

Jim is a Vice President and Employee Benefits Consultant with McGriff ( formerly known as BB&T Insurance Services), the world’s sixth largest insurance brokerage. Jim graduated from the Eckerd College, and subsequently earned his Charter Life Underwriter (CLU), Fellow Life Management Institute (FLMI), and Associate, Customer Service (ACS), insurance designations. Jim has been certified in Advanced Self-Funding by NAHU, and in 2020 he earned a certificate in Hospitality & Tourism Management by Florida Atlantic University. Jim has over 20 years of experience in Employee Benefits, Group Benefits, Life Health and Disability Underwriting, and Benefits Communications and is considered a trusted advisor and a lead team member for his clients.

Jim currently and previously has served on Producer Advisory Councils for some of the country’s largest insurance carriers, including Cigna’s Regional advisory board. Jim’s experience as an underwriter, sales executive, consultant and a member of these advisory boards gives him a strategic advantage in building innovative plan design and benefit strategies that enable his clients to control current and future health care cost for both the company and their employees. 

Jim is known for developing strategies that impact client’s bottom line by assisting clients with defining and understanding their goals and long term planning. Jim is able to deliver today’s complicated benefit plans, and advanced self-funding solutions, to employers in a manner that is impactful and understandable.

In addition to his role as an Employee Benefits Consultant he is a sought after speaker for SHRM, Chambers of Commerce, and Business organizations on the topics of Health Care Reform, Wellness Programs, and Compliance.

Jim has worked with many organizations including Hotels & companies in the Hospitality & Tourism industries, Sports Franchises, Manufacturing Companies and Credit Unions. Most of his clients are Large employers (100+ employees), and most are multisite, many are multi-state, and quite a few are US divisions of Foreign owned companies.
