This presentation is designed to be an interactive dialogue covering the need for an active shooter program in all types of organizations. From the “one person show” all the way to the largest enterprise, a realistic effective programfor how to respond to the worst-day-at-work-ever is a must. The rate and frequency of mass shootings continue to increase and no industry is immune. A successful program includes an awareness of the issue, preparation, andeducation of what to do, and being ready to respond appropriately should the need arise. In most industries, Human Resource leaders play a key role in insuring that their organization and its staff are prepared.

The attendee will be able to:

    • Understand the severity of the mass shooter epidemic in this country
    • Recognize factors that comprise active shooter incidents
    • Accept the power of social media in both the proliferation of and, prevention of mass shootings
    • Accept difficult, yet key concepts of active shooter prevention
    • Understand that all types of business are vulnerable
    • Understand what a successful program entails and the key stakeholders involved
    • Recognize what comprises realistic education and planning
    • Appreciate the effectiveness and limitations of the DHS Run, Hide, Fight program
    • Understand what and how training should be carried out in a variety of environments
    • Ensure that the organization’s plans align with law enforcement response
